Homework for Tuesday
Write a five paragraph essay detailing an important memory from your childhood. Use all of the five senses in your paper. Please print, double-space, and bring to class.
Read up to page 9 and do exercises

Overview:
Emphasis
on developing non-native speakers’ listening and speaking skills. Oral skills are developed through individual
presentations and conversation emphasis.
Focus is given to students’ spoken grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary,
and exposure to North American culture.
Instruction
in college writing skills for non-native speakers. Focuses on sentence-level
writing, punctuation, and paragraph development. Introduces students to pre-academic,
experiential writing. Trains students to
develop and organize ideas in description and process modes. Progresses to five
page essays. Introduces students to academic writing. Trains students to
develop and organize ideas in narrative and comparison/contrast modes.
Instruction
using reading material from other courses in all verb tenses (to include past,
present, future in simple progressive and perfective forms), passive voice and
modals, conditionals, gerunds, infinitives, and prepositions, noun clauses
adjective clauses, adverb clauses, and adverbial phrases.
